Heretic Custom Arms was founded by James Edwards, a U.S. Army veteran and lifelong firearms professional with decades of experience on the "AR" platform. Having worked with and around AR-style rifles since the 1980s, James saw firsthand both the strengths of the platform and its limitations.

Long before today’s manufacturing capabilities existed, he recognized how inconsistent components and mass-production shortcuts held the platform back. The technology to truly refine and optimize each part simply wasn’t available at the time. Today, it is.

Since 2014, James has dedicated himself to building rifles the right way—by hand-selecting components, rigorously testing materials, and pushing parts to failure to identify what truly performs. Years of testing and refinement have shaped a build philosophy rooted in reliability, precision, and real-world performance.

What sets Heretic Custom Arms apart is an unwavering commitment to the customer. Every build is fully personalized, offering complete design input, custom Cerakote patterns, and configurations tailored to individual expectations and requirements.

All Heretic firearms are 100% American made—built, assembled, and tested right here in the USA. Each rifle and pistol reflects a disciplined approach to craftsmanship, shaped by experience, service, and a refusal to accept “good enough.”
